Make your household emergency plan
Answer a few questions and get a one-page plan for the fridge: who to call, where to meet, where your stopcock is, and what's missing from your kit. The government's new Be Ready campaign asks every household to be ready for three days. Only about 1 in 7 UK households has a written plan.

About the plan builder
Frequently asked questions
Is this free?
Yes. The plan builder is free and you don't need to sign up. You can print your plan or save it as a PDF from the last step.
Where is my plan stored?
Only in this browser on this device. Nothing you type is sent to us. If you ask for reminder emails, we receive your email address and the use-by months you entered, and nothing else.
Does it work in a power cut?
Once you've opened it, your browser keeps a copy, so the page and your saved plan open without internet. Print a copy as well — phones run out of battery.
How do you know my network operator?
From the first letters of your postcode, using a table on your device. Network borders don't follow postcodes exactly, so border areas show two options. In England, Scotland and Wales you can always call 105 and you'll be put through to the right one.
What are the local checks?
From the first letters of your postcode we work out whether you're in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, and link to the official flood risk map, flood warning sign-up and council finder for that nation, plus the Met Office warnings. The lookup happens on your device; the official sites ask for your postcode themselves.
Is this the official GOV.UK plan?
No. We're an independent UK site. The plan follows the GOV.UK Be Ready advice to be ready for at least three days, and we recommend reading beready.campaign.gov.uk too.
