Power cuts, floods and weather warnings near me
Short answer: enter your postcode to see power cuts your network operator lists near you, flood warnings (England) and Met Office weather warnings. Most days there's nothing in force. If your power is off, call 105 free (03457 643 643 in Northern Ireland).
We look your postcode up on your device. Nothing about it is sent to us.

How this works
- Every list shows the time it was read. We read the operators' and the Environment Agency's open data at most every 5 minutes, and the Met Office warnings every 15 minutes.
- If an operator's data is more than 30 minutes old or doesn't load, we don't show it. We point you to that operator's live map and 105 instead.
- We never say "no power cut". We say what the operator lists near your postcode sector at that time. New faults can take a while to appear.
- Restore times are the operator's own estimate and can change.
- Not covered live: SP Energy Networks and Electricity North West areas (their data needs a registered account), Northern Ireland power and floods, flood warnings in Scotland and Wales, and water supply. For each, we link to the official checker.
If the power goes off
- Check whether neighbours are off too, and check your trip switches.
- Call 105 (free) or use your operator's live map. In Northern Ireland call 03457 643 643.
- Keep the fridge and freezer doors closed. Use torches, not candles.
- If someone relies on powered medical equipment, the Priority Services Register gets you extra help (where to join).

Frequently asked questions
How do I check if there is a power cut in my area?
Enter your postcode on this page. We show the cuts your electricity network operator lists near you, from its own open data, with the time it was read. If your power is off and it isn't listed, call 105 for free (England, Scotland and Wales), or 03457 643 643 in Northern Ireland.
Which areas does the live power cut check cover?
UK Power Networks (London, South East and East of England), Northern Powergrid (North East, Yorkshire), National Grid Electricity Distribution (Midlands, South West, South Wales) and SSEN (North of Scotland and central southern England). SP Energy Networks, Electricity North West and NIE Networks don't publish an open live feed we can use, so for those areas we link to their own live maps.
Is my postcode sent to you?
No. Your browser downloads a small file for your postcode area (for example all of LS) and finds your sector on your device. It then downloads the full lists of power cuts and warnings and filters them on your device. The page address only ever holds the postcode sector, such as LS1 4.
Where do flood warnings come from?
In England, from the Environment Agency's real-time flood-monitoring data. Scotland (SEPA), Wales (Natural Resources Wales) and Northern Ireland don't have an open live feed we can use, so we link to their official pages.
Can I rely on this page in an emergency?
No. It's a convenience that reads official open data, which can be late or briefly unavailable. Always follow your network operator, the Environment Agency, SEPA, Natural Resources Wales, the Met Office and the emergency services. In an emergency call 999.
Why don't you show water supply problems?
Water companies don't publish an open live feed of incidents that we can use. We link to the tool for finding your water company, so you can check its own incidents page.
